Hawaii Ocean Safety Team (HOST) was formed in 1998 as a non-profit organization whose vision is to promote stewardship of Hawaii’s waters and enhance ocean safety. HOST is comprised of representatives from business, government, and the community who are committed to identifying maritime concerns and developing solutions before they become major issues.
During 2002, HOST conducted six Membership Meetings that included such topics as the Marine Transportation System, Underwater Research in Hawaii, Hurricane Preparedness, Homeland Security and a presentation on the Ocean Recreation Associates Degree Program. HOST participated in the Annual National Harbor Safety Conference in Texas, the Hawaii Boat Show and the Honolulu Harbor Festival.
