AGENDA ITEM #1    Call to Order

 Robin called the meeting to order.   A quorum was present.

AGENDA ITEM #2     Approval of the Minutes of last meeting.

Minutes for the last meeting were not reviewed for approval.

AGENDA ITEM #3    Treasurer’s Report

Chris Woolaway reported that we currently funds total $2,702.91.    

AGENDA ITEM #4    General Membership Meeting critique

Everyone agreed the meeting was a great success.   A great deal of information was covered.

AGENDA ITEM #5    Next General Meeting topics

•           Possible hurricane topic.   This is something we do annually.  A major hurricane exercise is being conducted at the end of June.

AGENDA ITEM #6    Old Business

•           Falls of Clyde is now back in line for dry-docking.   They are working on a fundraiser for insurance and dry-docking costs.    The are working with the San Diego museum with a sail on the vessel Star of India sailing under the Hawaiian flag.

AGENDA ITEM #7    New Business

•           Wikoliana Educational Excursions will be located at the end of Pier 7.    This includes the Harbor Stewardship program.   On Tuesday, May 19th, noon to two, they will initiate a clean up of Honolulu Harbor Pier 7 program.

            They are just starting out and are looking for donations and also a similar 501 3C organization that may be able to help them with holding donations.    Please feel free to join us for the opening blessing.  Jeff Lansdown asked whether HOST would be willing to offer to do this service.    After some discussion a motion was made by Kim Beasley to allow HOST to help them hold their funds.   The motion was approved. 

•           The Star of Honolulu will be repeating their efforts to take canoe club members out on a tour on May 23rd.    This is an effort to enhance communications between canoes and commercial vessels.

•           HOST has been asked by Warren Ditch, who represents marine unions, as to whether HOST can review their safety concerns about insufficient manpower for vessels if one of the crew falls overboard.  Brad pointed out that this is primarily a harbor work boat issue.   Once all vessels are required to be inspected this may change.  There is no potential for an easy solution but Captain Ditch has made HOST aware.

AGENDA ITEM #8  –  Coast Guard Concerns

•           LCDR Marcella Granquist  –  Nothing at this time.

AGENDA ITEM #9   –   State of Hawaii Concerns  (DOT Harbors and DLNR)

•           Bill Davis  –  Reported that yacht races on Friday night yachts going around the H buoy at Honolulu Harbor held up a Horizon vessel for 20 minutes.    The yachts were following protocol and a follow up conversation with Aloha Tower has smoothed this over.

AGENDA ITEM #10  –  Coast Guard Auxiliary Issues

•           No body was representing the Auxiliary.

AGENDA ITEM #11  –  Announcements:

•           Alien Aquatic Organism Taskforce is being formed by the Division of Aquatic resources.   They are having a meeting on May 19 at the Aquatic Quarantine station at 1849 Auiki Street just off Sand Island Access Road.    There is plenty of parking.    If you have questions call 832-0566. Brad Rimell is on the taskforce.
