Introductions: Jimmy Barros from City and County Ocean Safety was introduced. He will be attending the meetings representing C&C Ocean Safety.

HOST Secretary: HOST needs to find a secretary to take the minutes and maintain the information that is to go on the web. It was suggested that the community colleges or business school could be approached as a community service.
Pending HOST Items: The items for decision were: HOST change of Quorum from 8 to 6, approval of new web site, and addition of Kim Beasley to the Board were all approved.
June 13 General Meeting: Robin will host. On the agenda is Hurricane Preparedness, announcement of the 3 Ocean Races, Harbor Security, and Federal Security Grants for Sea Ports.
HOST Bylaws: The Bylaws will be changed to reflect the name change and change in quorum.
SOPs: Nita Jarrell has transcribed six of the ten that need to be retyped. Tom and Brad will review the SOPs that may need updating. The Communication Sub-committee needs to be revitalized. Roy will recall the subcommittee and also revise the amendment date on the revised SOP.
The Ocean Conservancy’s Good Mate Program: The video was reviewed. Susan and Bob from the Yacht clubs requested copies and will use them to educate their members.
DOBOR Safety Education Program: Roy and Robin met with Pearlyn Fukuba of DOBOR. There is interest in working together to develop a Boating Safety Newsletter. The next step will be the formation of an executive group: Robin, Terry White, Roy and Bob will formulate a Boating Safety Guide. It needs to be on the Web site and not just one newsletter twice a year. Anyone with a strong desire to be on this group let Roy know, any additional comments should be directed to Robin.
Boat Show: Mike updated the Board on the Boat Show and requested help for the HOST Booth. Anyone wanting to help out should contact Mike.
Environmental Hero Award: Christine Woolaway was recognized for receiving NOAA’s 2002 Environmental Hero Award for her outstanding efforts to enhance the safe and pollution free use of Hawaii waters.
Announcements: Hale O Lono canoe race will be held May 4th. Homeland Security Grants, have millions of dollars going to the Sea Ports. There will be defensive systems in every major port. Bill will give his briefing at the next general meeting.
